Who Knew Kim had such crushing stems?!!!!

Memorial Day Weekend.  When the stream falls on holiday weekends I always get concerned about who might be listening live.  Especially on a holiday as somber as this one is in the U.S.  It should be a time of remembering those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the country.  Somber stuff indeed but the show is actually two days before the holiday & the show must & did go on!  Surprisingly, the number of live listeners actually startled me & the positive feedback made it a show worth cataloging here.  It started with the usual Punk pick me up to get things rolling.  Two of the bands highlighted, The Lurkers & Subway Sect, hadn't made a show appearance in over half a decade. That was followed by familiar New Wave faves The Fixx, Simple Minds & INXS.  From there, the following blocks touched on the 2010's (Peace, Klaxons, Divine Fits), Classic Post-Punk (Killing Joke, P.I.L., Wolfgang Press). The 1st half of the show ended in Indie bliss from Everything But The Girl, Saltwater Sun, FURS & Tennis.  The full listing is below.

The 2nd half of the show started similarly to the beginning.  Except in lieu of Punk it went upbeat New Wave.  The B-52's, FFS (Franz Ferdinand & Sparks), & Oingo Boingo were some of the standouts.  A gloomy set followed with classics from N.I.N. & Ministry but there was newness as well.  Death Bells made their 1st appearance & considering it's from their first release, it's quite impressive.  An all new block of 2016 releases from Primal Scream, Richard Ashcroft & others got the show out of mothballs for a block.  The The, David Sylvian, & other heavy hitters rounded out an incredibly entertaining evening.  The full listing follows.

  1. The B-52's - "Mesopotamia"

It was quite a night!  I want to extend a few special thank yous to some incredible people who religiously listen & contribute in some way to the show.  But first, a special thank you to a talented young woman I met at the recent Cure concert & that is Kim in Calgary!  Thanks for listening when you could while in the middle of an art crawl!  Thank you.  But as for the long standing stalwarts, thanks to Wade, Milt & Trish, Barb, Dave, Ben, Paula & Harry, Christina & so many more.  Special thanks to Sherri for dealing with two years of paranoia, cursing & hand wringing every two weeks.  Finally, Claire, you've inspired much more than you'll ever know.  Until the next stream...
